World’s greatest GA celebration

It’s that time of year again—time for general aviation pilots and enthusiasts to make the annual pilgrimage to Oshkosh, Wis., for EAA AirVenture, the world’s largest GA celebration.

This year, EAA AirVenture takes place from July 27 through August 2 at Wittman Regional Airport. The weeklong show features camping, daily airshows, aircraft displays, shopping booths, evening entertainment, and more. More than 10,000 aircraft from around the world fly in for the event each year, according to EAA.

AirVenture offers fun for the whole family, including KidVenture and Teen Dance. A special WomenVenture will take place Friday, July 31, featuring a group photograph of all of the women pilots in attendance and an all-women airshow.

AOPA will be on hand for the entire event, and the 2009 Sweepstakes Let’s Go Flying Cirrus SR22 will be on display right outside AOPA’s Big Yellow Tent. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to see its dual-purpose color scheme that touts the value of GA on one side of the aircraft with the GA Serves America logo and the importance of introducing others to aviation on the other side with the Let’s Go Flying logo.
