There are certain aircraft that are iconic. You know what they are at a glance. The DC-3. The J-3 Cub. The Goodyear blimp.
This year, visitors to AOPA’s Big Yellow at EAA AirVenture will have a chance to win a ride on one of those icons. For the grand prize in this year’s giveaway, AOPA and Goodyear, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of general aviation aircraft tires, are collaborating to provide the grand prize winner and one guest a chance to fly aboard a Goodyear airship.
“When you think of flying, it’s easy to think there has to be a wing involved—either fixed or rotary—in order to get off the ground,” said AOPA President Craig Fuller. “But our grand prize giveaway at AirVenture this year is a reminder that since the dawn of aviation, all you ever really needed to do was float.”
The drawing for the grand prize will take place at the end of AirVenture. The prize includes guest tickets for two for a ride aboard a Goodyear blimp at one of Goodyear’s three airship bases. The prize also includes reimbursement for domestic travel expenses, up to $2,000. The winner of the prize must be at least 18 years old. Complete rules will be available at AOPA’s Big Yellow Tent.
