Simcom launches new Citation training courses

SimCom Training Centers now offers a new, FAA Part 142 training course for those wanting single-pilot certification to fly Cessna Citations. The course is conducted at SimCom’s Orlando, Fla., training center.

“All training, including the initial checkride, is conducted in either our Citation II or Citation Ultra Level C simulator,” said Wally David, SimCom’s president and CEO. “Utilization of a simulator is clearly safer than in-aircraft training, and for today’s budget-conscious pilot it saves the expense and inconvenience of using the customer’s aircraft for the check ride.” The course was developed as a result of customer feedback, David said.

SimCom also announced a new eight-day Cessna CitationJet Captain Initial Training course, also given at the Orlando facility. This involves one-on-one instruction and the use of Level C simulators equipped with Honeywell two-tube EFISs and Universal’s GNS-XLS flight management systems. Ground school for the course is 32 hours; cockpit procedures training lasts eight hours; briefings take nine hours; and there are 14 hours of simulator time.

“In keeping with our ‘value proposition’ SimCom reduced the course from 14 days to only eight, enabling customers to save money related to hotels, meals, and ground transportation. We’ve also significantly reduced the time customers must spend away from their offices and families,” said Tracy Brannon, SimCom’s senior vice president and managing director.
