WingX, the popular flight planning and aviation reference software, will soon be available on the iPhone and iPod Touch, the company said this week.
WingX is a fully functioning mobile flight planning tool that was previously only available on smart phones such as the Blackberry. The program includes weight and balance information, a full-service weather suite, charts, a flight planner, an E6B, the ability to file a flight plan, and more. The AOPA Airport Directory data will also be available as a free upgrade starting in June.
“iPhone is an amazing platform for the display of on-board approach charts, airport diagrams, animated radar and many other weather images,” said WingX CEO Hilton Goldstein. “Significantly, WingX for iPhone stores all approach charts and airport diagrams internally. Pilots can therefore view any approach chart while flying and without an Internet connection.”
The software is expected to be available from Apple in May.
