Three University of Cincinnati students who are planning to become professional pilots got some help toward that goal in the form of scholarships from The Sporty’s Foundation.
This year’s scholarship recipients were Abdelaziz Akkoub, who received $15,000; Sophie Gilgean, who received $10,000; and Patrick Spare, who received $5,000. All three are incoming sophomores in the university’s professional pilot program, in varying stages of pilot training. The program enables students to earn an associate of applied science degree in aviation technology and a commercial pilot certificate. They can go on to earn bachelor of business administration from the university’s College of Business Administration.
The Sporty’s Foundation’s mission is to help secure the future of general aviation by providing assistance to aviation education and safety programs. For more information, see the Web site.
