Hope for future amid steep spiral

News of layoffs and struggling aircraft manufacturers are sparking questions about the health and future of the general aviation industry. AOPA will address those questions and look at the future of GA during AOPA Aviation Summit (the new Expo), Nov. 5 through 7 in Tampa, Fla.

On Thursday, Nov. 5, join AOPA Pilot Editor in Chief Thomas B. Haines for a Summit Session from 9:50 to 10:30 a.m. as he talks about GA’s downtrend with Cessna’s Jack Pelton, Cirrus’ Alan Klapmeier, Teledyne Continental’s Rhett Ross, and Rolls Royce Helicopter Engine’s Kenneth Roberts.

But the group won’t dwell solely on the current downturn. Part of the session will be dedicated toward signs of hope for the future recovery of the industry. The group will discuss how airframes and powerplants are evolving as well as topics including unleaded fuels, diesel, full authority digital engine control, light sport aircraft, and the new generation of light turbine and turboprop engines.

Each day of AOPA Aviation Summit will feature two Summit Sessions. These 40-minute morning sessions will be similar to the popular General Sessions that AOPA offered at Expo. However, the new, shorter format for these sessions will allow you to get a quick update on the state of the GA industry while giving you plenty of time to attend multiple educational seminars, explore the exhibit hall, and visit the aircraft display at Airportfest, hosted at Peter O. Knight Airport in Tampa.
