A new light sport aircraft (LSA) has entered the U.S. market— the TL-3000 Sirius. The composite high-wing aircraft is manufactured in the Czech Republic by TL-Ultralight, which also produces the low-wing Sting S3 LSA.
Powered by a 100-hp Rotax 912 ULS engine and fitted with a ground-adjustable DUC Swirl propeller, the Sirius cruises at 116 knots and burns from 3.8 to 5 gph. The aircraft comes equipped with the standard instrument six-pack, a Garmin GPSMAP 496, a Zaon portable collision avoidance system, and a GreenLine engine monitoring system. It also comes standard with a Galaxy Rescue Systems ballistic aircraft recovery parachute, 30-gallon tanks, and adjustable rudder pedals.
Features, including the TruTrak autopilot, Garmin GDU 375 or GPSMAP 696, and AmSafe harness-mounted airbag restraints, can be added to the aircraft, which has a base price of $130,900.
SportairUSA in North Little Rock, Ark., is the North American distributor for the Sirius and Sting S3 LSAs. The Sirius is expected to be in North Little Rock in December, but the SportairUSA says it already is accepting orders.
