Winter flying is not to be missed. The cool air and crisp skies make for a wonderful experience. And during the holidays, it’s made even better by the abundance of Christmas light displays on the ground. We found some of the best in the country to give you a little holiday cheer.
If you’re going to do Christmas lights, you might as well go big. That’s what the Faucher family has been doing for more than 25 years. The display features more than 1 million lights, and dozens of characters. Ask for directions at the FBO.
Nashville is home to one of four displays this year put on by Shadrack Water Sports, the winner of various online awards for best commercial light display in the country. If you doubt it, check the video on the company’s website (www.shadrack.com/christmas).
There are dozens of reasons to visit Branson, but none seems better than the light display every Christmas. The entire resort is decked out with millions of lights, and each evening at 5:30 the five-story Christmas tree is lit and the lights jam to the music.
Christmas music, 150,000 lights, and computer power make for one impressive light display. The Holdman (www.holdman.com) display in Lindon flashes in sync with songs, a cool trick that visitors loved but neighbors didn’t. The display is now in an open field, but its soul burns on.
Arlington airport is a great jumping-off point for “The Lights,” the largest light display in the region. “The Lights” is part of a larger festival held throughout the month of December at the Warm Beach Camp in Sherwood.
