Answers for Pilots: Charity flying

As you appreciate your many blessings this holiday season, you may want to give back to those around you and look for opportunities to share flying with others. Charitable flying is a gratifying way to engage with your community to support a worthwhile cause. AOPA’s Pilot Information Center receives many calls from members each year asking how to sponsor a charitable community flying event. Typically, these pilots want to provide sightseeing flights at local airports to raise funds for civic groups, churches, or youth groups such as the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. In addition to raising financial support, charitable flying events generate community support, because many local families and business owners are introduced to flying. Find out what’s involved in organizing a charitable flying event in this month’s Answers for Pilots Online.

Help support AOPA’s mission with the AOPA credit card

As an AOPA member, you understand the crucial role the association plays in fighting to keep general aviation fun, safe, and affordable. AOPA understands the important part our members play in supporting our mission. Without our members, the strong voice of AOPA would be silenced. Support for this mission takes on many forms, from keeping your membership current to your utilization of AOPA Member Products.

One notable AOPA Member Product, the AOPA credit card from Bank of America, is critical to our mission. Each time a purchase is made with the AOPA credit card, vital funding is generated and returned to AOPA. So, if you’re shopping for groceries, a birthday gift, or even putting fuel in your tank, every purchase you make is directly contributing to the mission of AOPA.

The WorldPoints® rewards program allows you to earn one point for every dollar you spend on purchases that you can redeem for cash, gift cards, and other rewards. Plus, you will earn two points for every dollar you spend on select AOPA products and services—and purchases at more than 4,000 participating FBOs and other selected aviation businesses, including Sporty’s Pilot Shop, Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Corporation, Gulf Coast Avionics, King Schools, and Pacific Coast Avionics.

For information about rates, fees, other costs, and benefits associated with the use of this credit card, or to apply, just call 1-800-932-2775 and mention priority code UABFIG.
