Want to buy an aircraft, but need co-owners to share the costs? You can always put an ad in the newspaper, but now Piper Aircraft has something better: PiperMatch locates co-owners for you.
Under the program, PiperMatch specialists link aviators with carefully matched co-owner candidates—Piper enthusiasts who share location and financial wherewithal, and have compatible profiles.
“Piper Aircraft has a rich history of making General Aviation affordable and accessible to aviators who share the passion for flight,” said Piper Executive Vice President Randy Groom.
“What makes PiperMatch extraordinarily useful is the large database of aviators who are willing co-owners,” Groom said. “Now Piper dealers have an effective tool to match aviators who want to share costs and who live in proximity but may never meet if not for the PiperMatch program.”
The PiperMatch database includes thousands of aviators who have already embraced the concept of reducing the cost of ownership through co-ownership.
Piper will also help with information on tax, legal, finance, and insurance issues. Insurance help comes from collaboration between PiperMatch Ownership Services and the AOPA Insurance Agency.
In an unrelated announcement, Piper said it has established a worldwide network of dealers for the PiperSport light sport aircraft. LSA aircraft are restricted to two passengers, but can be flown by a sport pilot with a valid driver’s license instead of an FAA medical. New dealers announced at EAA AirVenture cover 15 to 20 states and three countries.
There are three variants of the aircraft: the PiperSport, which sells for $119,900; the PiperSport LT (primarily a training model), which sells for $129,900; and the PiperSport LTD (professional model), which sells for $139,900. Each model features leather seats and is equipped with a 100-hp Rotax 912 engine and a BRS complete aircraft parachute recovery system. Each model has the same gross weight, speed, fuel capacity, and range.
