Hawker Beechcraft employees, presented with an offer cast by Kansas governor as preventing their jobs from moving to Louisiana, rejected the offer by a 55 to 45 percent majority. The company says it had made its best offer.
Workers told reporters for The Wichita Eagle that the cuts and sacrifices asked by the offer cut too deep. They said they felt the jobs would be eventually moved no matter what the outcome.
Company officials said they would now make business decisions needed to assure that the company survives the current reduced demand in the business and general aviation markets served by Hawker Beechcraft.
