Sure, you can tune any radio frequency you want into any active or standby slot on the panel. But why would you? Most training airplanes are now equipped with two communication and navigation radios. Keep things orderly by using the first radio for airborne communication (the tower, radar facilities), and the second radio for ground communication (ground control, weather, clearance delivery). This logical radio flow will give you three distinct advantages:
1. You will reach quickly to the correct radio to change frequencies.
2. In the case of airborne communication, you’ll always have the most recently used frequency (trust us, you’ll need it some day).
3. It will be quick and easy to switch to ground control when you land by simply selecting the second radio on the audio panel.
