Sometimes, the journey is half the fun
Some people learn to fly because they want to go places, and other pilots discover that’s one of the benefits of having a pilot certificate. Whether you’re flying a high-performing, single-engine turboprop like this Daher Socata TBM 850, or the piston-engine trainer in which you learned to fly, general aviation aircraft are powerful transportation tools. Imagine the benefits of flying in a (mostly) straight line, without having to land somewhere to change airplanes—or being tied to winding highway routings. You can travel among thousands of community airports, often much closer to your destination than the 500 or so U.S. airports with airline service. And you can set your own schedule. Regardless of what you fly, you will find that getting there is at least half of the fun.
