Forbes Custom, AOPA offer bizav resources

If time is money, then a corporate aircraft is one of a businessperson’s most valuable tools. Now, AOPA has teamed with Forbes Custom Solutions to show America’s business leaders the value of general aviation to their businesses and to the nation’s economy.

Forbes Custom has created ForbesBusinessAviation.com, a special website for which AOPA is providing content. Visitors can calculate how much time and money they could save by flying in a business jet, read news and features from around the Web, and research aircraft that might work for their company. AOPA Online has added a special landing page where Forbes visitors and can learn even more about general aviation and AOPA members can stay up-to-date on the latest business aviation news.

“Those of us directly involved in the general aviation industry understand how indispensible a business tool it can be,” said Tom Haines, senior vice president of media for AOPA. “But a smart business person who is unfamiliar with aviation needs to vet the concept before implementing it. ForbesBusinessAviation.com gives them a vital tool to accomplish that.”

GA offers the advantages of time savings and the ability to go directly to one’s destination without relying on the airlines’ hub-and-spoke system. The Forbes custom website demonstrates both advantages right up front with a travel cost calculator at the top of the home page. The site also links to news stories, feature articles, and resources from AOPA and other sources about business aviation. It also includes access to a buyer’s guide and commentary from industry leaders.

“Our goal is to show corporate leaders the opportunities and bottom-line benefits that business aviation presents,” said Executive Director of Forbes Custom Solutions Selden Blommer. “It provides mobility and flexibility in a way airlines just can’t match, and has the potential to open up whole new markets that are far less accessible without business aviation.”

The cooperative effort is a natural fit for both organizations. AOPA and AOPA Online have a wealth of information on the business advantages of GA, and Forbes reaches an audience that can directly benefit from those advantages. While visitors from the Forbes site are on AOPA Online, they also can find out about learning to fly and the freedom of GA.

AOPA is one of several aviation associations and organizations supporting ForbesBusinessAviation.com. Others include the National Business Aviation Association, the No Plane No Gain campaign, Business & Commercial Aviation and AvBuyer magazines, and the Corporate Angel Network, an organization that helps cancer patients get to treatment centers by using empty seats aboard corporate aircraft.
