Hilton Software, maker of WingX, said Sept. 22 that its iPad application will soon show traffic through a wireless connection with Zaon’s XRX PCAS system. The capability is expected to be available in October through WingX version 7.
According to WingX representatives, the traffic will be displayed on the moving map with new color-coded displays that will reduce interpretation time and make spotting targets easier.
Customers will not be required to purchase a new Zaon system. Both new and old XRX PCAS units will connect to WingX via a wireless device. The dongle retails for $100.
“The addition of in-flight traffic together with our new traffic symbology increases traffic awareness and therefore flight safety,” said Hilton Goldstein, CEO of Hilton Software LLC.
