A Garmin glass upgrade is now an option throughout the King Air line: The recent FAA award of a supplemental type certificate allowing G1000 installations in King Air 300/350 series aircraft was followed quickly by the first six orders, Hawker Beechcraft Services announced this month.
The integrated flight deck, with a 10.4-inch primary flight display for both pilots, flanking a 15-inch multi-function display, was approved for STC installations in King Air 200 and B200s in 2009. WAAS-enabled GPS and weather radar are among the standard features.
Hawker Beechcraft sought bankruptcy protection this month, vowing to continue with business as usual during a reorganization expected to transfer ownership to creditors.
Company officials hope the STC will boost sales.
“The G1000 is a very popular upgrade for operators of our King Air aircraft,” said Christi Tannahill, senior vice president of global customer support, in a press release. “Our HBS facilities have completed numerous King Air 90 and 200 installations and we look forward to additional King Air 350 projects.”
