Stay at an aviation-themed hotel

Hangar Hotel

When flying long distances in a small general aviation airplane, it’s a good idea to plan out good airports with close hotels as stops in case of weather, fatigue, and anything else that might crop up.

And when it comes to aviation hotels, nothing can beat the Hangar Hotel in Fredericksburg, Texas. Forget a weather stop, this hotel is worthy of a dedicated destination weekend. As the hotel's website says, “Guests staying here are not road warriors who check in late at night and rise the next morning to make that early sales call.”

The Hangar Hotel was built in the theme of a World War II-era hangar. It feels like the 1940s in the rooms, restaurant, and general atmosphere. There’s the Officer’s Club lounge, an observation deck with period music playing where you can watch the airplanes come and go, and all the rooms are decked out with furniture covered with leather bomber jacket material.

Visit the website or call 830-997-9990 for more information—or to make your aviation getaway reservations.
