MW Fly brings new engines to Sun ’n Fun

Italy’s MW Fly, a spinoff of MW Motor Sports, has brought its new line of Aeropower engines, designed for light sport and experimental aircraft to the United States to debut at the Sun ’n Fun International Fly-In & Expo. The engines have been adapted from technology used to build motorsport engines.

MW Fly is showcasing the Aeropower B22R 4-cylinder engine with “130 horsepower horizontal cylinders, injection system with dual ECU, integrated reduction gear by weight,” the company said. The company will also debut a set of new engine electronics, including the HSA-M engine health status annunciator and the Prop-M modules, created in collaboration with P.A.T. Avionics.

“Since 2011 the Aeropower engines have won acclaim from many airplane owners,” said MW Fly Engine Designer Stefano Marella. “It took eight years of development to create this innovative engine and we are already seeing strong adoption rates across Europe.”

“Aeropower engines are liquid cooled workhorses that have proven reliability and standard built-in top of the line features such as: electronic fuel injection, integrated reduction gear, plug and play architecture and an electro-hydraulic governor,” said Marco Mille, chief technology officer for P.A.T. Avionics. “It is easy to operate. In fact, in full automatic you can forget your variable pitch propeller. The Prop-M technology will set the pitch for the best performance in any flight phase.”
