Comment deadline reset on Alaska F-16 squadron relocation

The Air Force has made more time available for pilots to submit comments on the impact of a proposed relocation of the 18th Aggressor Squadron from Eielson Air Force Base to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska. Comments may now be submitted until Aug. 30 as provided below.

AOPA had previously submitted comments on the relocation’s environmental findings, expressing concerns about the effect of moving the F-16 squadron operations near airspace at Anchorage’s Merrill Field.

Several alternatives offered by the Air Force also would increase the use of military operations areas in airspace frequently used by general aviation aircraft transitioning to and from the Mount McKinley area. That possibility raised additional concerns, as AOPA noted in its formal comments after a series of public meetings.

Members are encouraged to submit comments by Aug. 30 electronically  or by mail to Mr. Allen Richmond, AFCEC/CZN, 2261 Hughes Ave, Ste. 155, JBSA-Lackland AFB, TX 78236-9853.

Please share your comments with AOPA.
