After taking lessons together since they were 13, twins Josh and Dan Fredrickson fulfilled their goal of becoming pilots on the same day. Dan, who is a minute older, took the first training flight, so it was up to Josh to take the first checkride.
“The checkride went well. I felt prepared thanks to great training from my instructor, Larry Vande Voort, and encouragement from friends and family. After years of studying and working for this license, I must say that I am quite relieved to be done with it. I would also like to thank Shane Vande Voort, manager of the Pella Airport and the examiner who did the checkride, for doing whatever he had to do to get our checkrides done as soon as we were eligible.”
Then it was Dan’s turn: “The checkride went well. I did it just as I had practiced with my instructor, Larry. Shane, who was the examiner, said it went well. It was not an easy test, and I felt nervous up to the end of the flight, but once I finished, I couldn’t stop smiling. Although Josh and I sometimes tire of being twins, it was pretty cool to do this together; I think it did make studying easier sometimes.”
