The FAA has issued an advisory to inform pilots of required aircraft reservations at Lakefront Airport in New Orleans from Feb. 1 to 4 in connection with Super Bowl XLVII, which will be played Feb. 3.
The FAA also issued a flight advisory providing pilots with an overview of temporary flight restrictions that will be in effect Feb. 3 over Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, site of the football game.
Lakefront Airport will use a parking reservation system to meet expected heavy air traffic volume, and to ensure ramp space for arriving aircraft, the FAA said.
Pilots must obtain a Prior Permission Required (PPR) number that will indicate parking location. The PPR number should be provided to air traffic control to help direct arrivals to the correct runway turnoff point. Lakefront Airport’s fixed-base operators can help pilots obtain a PPR number, the FAA said.
All pilots should be prepared for potential airborne holding, rerouting, or expect departure clearance times (EDCT). Additional information is available at the Super Bowl’s host site for business aviation.
Pilots are urged to check notams frequently during the event for possible changes to flight restrictions.
