Air Force creates TMOA in Michigan, Wisconsin

A temporary military operations area (TMOA) will be established June 17 through 28 in parts of northern Michigan and Wisconsin. AOPA members were originally asked to comment on the proposed TMOA in January.

The Air Force will establish the Sentry and Ironwood TMOAs to support Exercise Northern Sentry. The TMOA will be in effect from 6,000 feet msl up to but not including Flight Level 180 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. daily.

“There may be impacts to several Victor airways at a time of the year when general aviation operations are high, so we urge pilots to plan accordingly,” said Melissa McCaffrey, AOPA senior government analyst of air traffic services.
