Aerobatic pilots Long, Wagstaff collaborate on book project

Aerobatic pilots Air Force Lt. Col. Jill “Raggz” Long and Patty Wagstaff have teamed up to create a compilation of humorous stories told by women in aviation.

The goal of the Ladies First Project is to provide a platform for women to share their stories. “Whether flying airliners, turning wrenches, directing traffic, managing FBOs, or pumping avgas, women have a unique story to tell,” according to the website. Select submissions will be compiled in book form, and the collaborators hope to use proceeds from the book to fund scholarships. They also hope that the “funny, heartwarming, ironic” tales will provide a connection between current and aspiring women pilots.

Posts can be submitted directly to the website.

Long is a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and has flown her Pitts S2B at EAA AirVenture. Wagstaff is a three-time U.S. National Aerobatic champion. She was profiled in the March 2013 Flight Training magazine.
