Renew flight instructor certificate with ASI’s new eFIRC

Course is customizable

The Air Safety Institute is excited to announce its new online Flight Instructor Refresher Course—aptly named eFIRC—which was launched July 1.

The new online course, which is optimized for the iPad, is accessible on any mobile device or computer, includes great educational videos, and saves your progress as you work. A great benefit of the eFIRC is that you can spread out taking the course over the full two-year CFI renewal cycle. And as long as you complete the FIRC within the four months prior to your certificate expiration date, you’ll maintain the same expiration month you had before.

The course is based on the concept of flexibility and customization. There are many elective modules to choose from, allowing you to select topics of interest to you. These include certain ASI online courses, meaning you already could be partially through the renewal before you’ve even begun if you recently completed a qualifying ASI online course. And the renewal application is completed entirely online—no need to mail paperwork or leave the comfort of your home.

As always, you have the option of attending an in-person FIRC held at locations throughout the United States. Visit the website (www.airsafetyinstitute.org/FIRC) for dates and locations or to renew online.

Cost for the online FIRC is $124; in-person FIRCs are $235 if you pre-register, or $250 at the door. The course includes all 8710 paperwork and processing.

Are you up for a weather challenge?

ASI’s new seminar debuts this fall

Soak up some practical weather knowledge with the Air Safety Institute’s Weather Challenge fall seminar, which debuts on September 9. Weather Challenge aims at bolstering real-world weather wisdom—and having a little fun, too. Put your knowledge to the test from METAR/TAF decoding to real-world weather scenarios. Along the way you’ll learn about important weather resources and the promise (and pitfalls) of cockpit weather. The seminar also covers critical risk management and decision making as it delves into weather-related accidents that didn’t need to happen. Visit the website (www.airsafetyinstitute.org/seminars) for dates and locations near you.
