Leenhouts said pre-registration is up 30 percent over 2014, which was a record-setting year for attendance; and the number of vendors and exhibitors will hit a 10-year high. FAA validates Piper Archer DX
Piper Aircraft CEO Simon Caldecott announced at the Sun 'n Fun International Fly-In and Expo that the FAA has validated the supplemental type certificate for the Continental CD-155 diesel installation in the Archer DX. The diesel engine was approved in Europe in 2014, and Caldecott said the first installation is underway in Vero Beach, Florida, for a European customer. The Archer DX, able to run on Jet A, has not yet drawn an American customer, Caldecott said.
