Aviation Supplies & Academics Inc. (ASA) on Feb. 12 announced seven new apps for Android designed to help pilots prepare for the oral portion of practical tests.
The apps, each sold for $9.99, are available for private pilot, instrument, commercial, flight instructor, airline transport pilot, multiengine, and helicopter checkrides, as well as flight reviews. Based on the Oral Exam Guide series by Michael Hayes, the apps present questions most likely to be asked by examiners in a flashcard format.
Calling the apps “indispensable tools in planning for what to expect during the checkride and mastering the subject matter,” ASA added in a media release that instructors will find the information to be good refresher material and excellent preparation for students.
The private pilot app has more than 600 questions and responses, while the instrument app has more than 450. Questions can be flagged for further study, and most apps include practical test checklists and other resources. The flight review app covers practices and procedures, responsible flying habits, regulations, and more. ASA previously offered checkride apps for iOS, and prepware apps are available for Android.
