Those who can, teach

Become a CFI

You learned to fly to experience the fun and freedom of aviation. How great would it be to share that fun and freedom with others—by teaching them to fly?

Certificated flight instructors are in great demand right now as the regional airlines scoop them up to become first officers. Flight schools are always looking for CFIs. Many will hire independent flight instructors—people who set their own hours, making it a perfect part-time job that could eventually transition to full time or a retirement job if you become hooked.

It’s likely you’ll improve your flying skills in the process. “When you become an active CFI, your knowledge and flight proficiency will rapidly exceed your greatest expectations when you were a private pilot,” said CFI Greg Brown, author of  The Savvy Flight Instructor.
