AOPA app debuts for iOS, Android

Stay up to date on the latest aviation news, watch videos, listen to podcasts, and search events right from your mobile device with the new AOPA app available free for download in the iTunes and Google Play stores.

The AOPA app is available for free download in the iTunes and Google Play stores.

“Now it’s easier than ever to get your aviation fix, check out aviation events near you, learn about the latest advocacy efforts, find places to go flying over the weekend, and connect with your team at AOPA,” said AOPA Chief Marketing Officer Jiri Marousek.

News stories and features from AOPA Pilot and Flight Training magazines are filled with photos and slideshows that pop off the screen with stunning quality. Swiping lets users scroll easily through slideshows. AOPA Live® video segments can be watched in date order or searched. Four different podcast series offer unlimited listening time while relaxing at home or while on the road wishing you were flying.

Search events in the aviation calendar by event type, location, and date range.

Members can manage their membership through the app, and nonmembers can access the content as a guest or sign up to become a member. All users can easily connect with AOPA staff through the app using the chat functionality or by calling or emailing.

The AOPA app home page includes the latest news, a featured video, and events.

Pilots also will receive alerts through the app about nearby temporary flight restrictions. Based on the device's geographic location, pilots will be notified of TFRs within their vicinity.

“TFR email alerts are a popular member benefit—we frequently hear from members who tell us, ‘You just saved my bacon!'” Marousek said. “Now, we have another avenue to conveniently let members know of TFRs.”

Download the app via iTunes or Google Play. Use the contact features in the app to let AOPA know what you like about the app and ways we can improve.

“We are excited to add new features to the app" said Marousek, "and we want to hear from AOPA pilots about what they believe will enhance the app experience.”
