AssuredPartners Aerospace and AOPA form strategic partnership

Leading national insurance broker AssuredPartners Aerospace (APA) has acquired the aviation insurance policies owned by the AOPA Insurance Agency (AOPIA). The transition was effective Dec. 2 and allows AOPA to focus its resources on financing the long-term health of the association and funding critical initiatives including growing the pilot population. AOPAIA policy holders will be notified of the change, but there will be no change to current premiums or renewal dates.

AOPA President Mark Baker said the change will be minimal for members and staff. “As with any organization, AOPA is constantly monitoring the products and services that we offer to members to assure we are providing the best resources to utilize member dues. This strategic partnership makes sense for our members, business, and the future of GA. In initiating this relationship, APA has made a substantial investment in support of AOPA’s mission, and in general aviation, now and into the future.”

APA has long been interested in expanding its presence in aviation and includes large agencies like AirSure Limited, Hope Aviation, and Regal Aviation. As the preferred agency for AOPA, APA will continue providing AOPA members access to the same insurance carriers that AOPAIA has used. APA has the largest book of business in the general aviation market, which gives AOPA members the best buying power when negotiating premiums and coverage. As an added benefit, APA has broader capabilities to better serve AOPA members needing commercial aviation insurance products.

Nonaviation insurance products including Life, AD&D, and Auto will remain with AOPA.
