Playing the float
If the placement of this twin's engines doesn't grab your attention, the wings' mounting will. That's because the Beriev Be–103 is a seaplane—and typically a seaplane's wings are meant to stay clear of the water. Not this airplane: Built by Russia's Beriev Design Bureau, the amphibious Be–103's wings are configured to displace water, helping keep the aircraft afloat. The design has another advantageous feature: The low, swept wings maximize ground effect, making flaps unnecessary. The 210-horsepower engines are mounted well clear of water.
Final Exam
Question

According to 14 CFR 61.109, a private pilot applicant must log 40 hours of flight time—20 hours of dual instruction and 10 hours solo. What are the requirements for the other 10 hours?
Answer
There are no specific requirements for the other 10 hours. They can be dual, solo, or a combination of the two. As long as you achieve the 40 hours total, how you obtain those 10 additional hours is up to you and your instructor.
