Dynon adds to portable avionics line
Dynon Avionics announced the release of the latest version of its portable electronic flight information system (EFIS) and introduced an Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) traffic and weather receiver “small enough to fit in a pocket.”
The latest model in Dynon’s portable EFIS line is the D3 Pocket Panel, which “lets pilots supplement their unreliable legacy instrumentation with an affordable, portable electronic attitude indicator that works,” said Woodinville, Washington-based Dynon in a news release.
Customers consistently rank synthetic vision display and a touch screen “high on their wish lists,” said Dynon Avionics President Robert Hamilton.
The D3 comes with accessories including home and airplane chargers, an optional external GPS antenna, and two unique mounting options. The included cockpit mounting options require no tools, allowing the D3 to be deployed in any aircraft, without FAA approval, Dynon said.
The D3 list price is $995, but during its introduction, “pilots may find it available as low as $879 from authorized Dynon dealers,” the company said.
Dynon is introducing in July the DRX portable ADS-B receiver, listed at $395 but available from some dealers for $349. The receiver supports connectivity with most mobile apps, including ForeFlight and FlyQ, and allows pilots to see the entire traffic picture with dual-band ADS-B reception.
Pilots can also receive in-cockpit ADS-B weather products such as NEXRAD Radar, METARs, TAFs, and more.
The DRX provides WAAS GPS position to mobile devices and has auto-dimming status lights for night flight.
