Question of the Week
Question

I heard that we're no longer required to have an instructor in the flight training device with us to get instrument current. Is this true?
Answer
It will be true soon. The FAA published a final rule in June that removes the requirement for an instructor to be present to accomplish recency experience in a full flight simulator, FTD, or aviation training device. This part of the rule will go into effect on July 27. There are other changes that you may want to review as well. For more information, see this AOPA Online article.
