Speed from scratch
Homebuilt aircraft are a common sight, but among homebuilders, there's a special reverence reserved for those painstakingly built from scratch. An example is the aerobatic Sequoia Falco F8L, a low-wing, canopied, two-place, retractable-gear speedster that first flew in 1965 and occupies a place on the long list of aircraft created by designer Stelio Frati. First produced in Italy, the Falco F8L was for some time offered by Sequoia Aircraft Corp. in the United States as a kitplane and remains "loved for its aerodynamics and artful appeal."
Final Exam
Question

I am a student pilot training for my private pilot certificate, and I have the opportunity to fly a Piper Warrior with a friend who is a private pilot. Can he let me fly his airplane, and can I log that time as pilot in command?
Answer
Yes, he may let you fly; that is his decision in his role as PIC. However, you cannot log the time because you are not the sole occupant of the aircraft (see 14 CFR 61.51(e)(iv)(D)(4)(i)).

This question and answer were provided by the aviation experts in AOPA's Pilot Information Center. Did you know that student pilots who join AOPA are three times more likely to complete their flight training? Membership includes unlimited access to aviation information by phone (800-USA-AOPA, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time) or from AOPA Online.
