Flair in the air
Can you name a popular four-place, high-wing, single-engine training airplane powered by a 180-horsepower Lycoming engine? That's so easy you might suspect it's a trick question—and you'd be correct. Not that the Vulcanair V1.0 isn't popular (mostly in Europe, but gaining here too). A few basic similarities aside, it soon differentiates itself from the airplane you may have been thinking of at first. The Vulcanair V1.0 features three (rather than two) doors, a constant-speed propeller, and big windows and skylights—all reflecting Italian designer Luigi Pascale's flair for the air.
Final Exam
Question

I started working on my private pilot certificate in the 1970s. I checked my old logbook, and I had logged 37 hours before I quit. Can I use any of that time toward private pilot training today?
Answer
Yes. The nice thing about logged flight time is that you never lose it. You will, of course, have to meet all the requirements in place today, but you can credit all of that previously logged time toward the current private pilot certification requirements.

This question and answer were provided by the aviation experts in AOPA's Pilot Information Center. Did you know that student pilots who join AOPA are three times more likely to complete their flight training? Membership includes unlimited access to aviation information by phone (800-USA-AOPA, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time) or from AOPA Online.
