Pilot optional
A V-tail airplane designed with hybrid-to-electric technology, a pilot-optional cockpit, and two quiet rear-fuselage-mounted electric "propulsors" is the vision of regional airline travel's near future put forth by Zunum Aero, a three-year-old startup based in Seattle and Chicago, and its industry partners. Determined to "democratize access to high-speed travel," Zunum Aero sees a 2022 target for launching its 12-passenger, 340-mph ZA–10 airliner said to be capable of using eco-friendly technology to fly to thousands of airports. Question

I just attempted to renew my aircraft registration online and could hardly believe the fee. When did it skyrocket from $5 to $365?
Answer
It didn't. The fee is still $5. However, it sounds like you landed on a website operated by National Aviation Center. AOPA has received many complaints about this company charging high fees to renew for you. Ensure you are on the official FAA website, or send the renewal through the U.S. Postal Service.

This question and answer were provided by the aviation experts in AOPA's Pilot Information Center. Did you know that student pilots who join AOPA are three times more likely to complete their flight training? Membership includes unlimited access to aviation information by phone (800-USA-AOPA, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time) or from AOPA Online.
