Question of the Week
Question

I'm working on my commercial airplane single-engine land pilot certificate. There's no complex single-engine aircraft or technically advanced aircraft available for me to rent to fulfill the 10-hour requirement in 14 CFR 61.129(a)(3)(ii). Can I use a multiengine aircraft to get the required hours?
Answer
Yes. The regulation does not specify that only a single-engine aircraft must be used for this requirement. See this FAA letter of interpretation for more information.

This question and answer were provided by AOPA's Pilot Information Center. Got a question for our technical services staff? Contact AOPA.
