May 2019 marks the eightieth anniversary of AOPA, formed in the months before the outbreak of World War II. In recognition of that event, AOPA will lead its 2019 fly-in schedule with a member and community event at its headquarters in Frederick, Maryland, May 10 and 11. The two-day event will feature all the hallmarks of AOPA’s successful fly-ins: seminars, displays, exhibitors, food, parties, and fun. In addition, World War II commemorative events are also planned. Frederick will be a stop for some of the D-Day Squadron’s flight of more than 35 DC–3s and C–47s planning to cross the Atlantic and land in France as part of the Daks Over Normandy flyover in June.

For the fly-in, there will be educational seminars, workshops, parties, meet and greets, displays, and tours. Free seminars and paid ground school workshops will be offered both Friday and Saturday; come for one day or mix it up with two. AOPA President Mark Baker and senior staff will be on hand to welcome you to headquarters; a Pilot Town Hall will be presented both days. Tour our headquarters, including the newly created museum. There will be aircraft displays, food trucks, exhibitors, a short takeoff and landing (STOL) invitational, drone night airshow, campfire parties, and so much more.
