Vampire's victories
No plane spotter would fail to notice a single-engine jet fighter with twin tail booms—but the mark made by the de Havilland DH.100 Vampire on aviation goes beyond its striking appearance. The Vampire first flew in England in 1943 as World War II raged, but production did not occur until after the conflict. The Vampire would soon become the first jet to fly from an aircraft carrier, and later tallied more triumphs with an altitude record (59,500 feet) and as the first jet to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. Question

I would like to offer my airplane to help in the Bahamas relief efforts. Does AOPA have any guidance on how to do this?
Answer
Yes. This AOPA Online article has been revised with the most up-to-date information available about the current status of the relief efforts, and how pilots can get involved.

This question and answer were provided by the aviation experts in AOPA's Pilot Information Center.
