Harclerode transitioned from a career in sales to flight instructing, giving her first lessons in the late 1990s. Although she initially aspired to become an airline pilot, luckily for her students, her two children keep her closer to home.

AOPA’s David Tulis, co-host of the Hangar Talk podcast, caught up with Harclerode after she won her award. They talked about flying in the mountains, her passion for teaching, and her love of night flying.

This conversation is part of the Flight Time series from Hangar Talk, where we revisit some of the most popular interviews for the Flight Training audience.
