Airline pilot Pete Bedell comes from an aviation family. His dad flew, his brothers are pilots, and he learned to fly at a young age. A journalism degree and a stint writing full time for AOPA had him firmly on the path to continuing his father’s route of experiencing aviation as a recreational pursuit.
A change of heart had him go first to a regional airline, and then on to a major. Bedell’s perspective as GA pilot turned airline pilot is educational for anyone thinking of making the big career change and shooting for the life of a professional pilot.
