Companies offer in-person, online Sun 'n Fun deals

Aviation companies are extending deals and educational programming at the Sun 'n Fun Aerospace Expo in Lakeland, Florida, by offering online promotions and seminars.

Some companies are providing an in-person and virtual experience for the show from April 13 through 18, while others are offering online deals.

Sporty’s Pilot Shop noted, “You don’t have to be at the show to save!” in an announcement offering special pricing online during the event. Sporty’s marked down ADS-B receivers, portable GPS units, watches, headsets, and flight bags.

ForeFlight is also directing pilots online. While it will have a booth at Sun ‘n Fun for pilots to scan a QR code to learn about the company’s latest products and features, it is offering programming online for everyone. Online seminars include a roundup of ForeFlight’s newest features, tips for getting recurrent digitally, and advice for filing flight plans; they are scheduled to run Tuesday through Friday. You can learn more about the courses and register in advance on ForeFlight’s website.

The Dynon Group will have an expanded exhibit area in Hangar B at Sun ‘n Fun, but is also offering a Zoom-based virtual exhibit where pilots can talk to Dynon and Advanced Flight Systems product experts about avionics opinions for their aircraft and watch product demonstrations. To participate in the virtual events, visit the Dynon website to get the Zoom meeting ID and passcode.

Textron Aviation will display a Cessna Caravan on site, but use augmented reality, videos, graphic boards, and mobile technology to interact virtually with pilots. Pilots can learn more online through a virtual aircraft display that includes the Cessna 182 Skylane, Beechcraft Bonanza G36, Beechcraft Baron G58, and Cessna Citation M2.

AOPA will be at Sun ‘n Fun, but with a different presence. Limited staff will be available, and they will be directing transactions to be done online. We’ll have an aircraft display and a program pavilion with spaced seating for in-person educational seminars. The seminars will be recorded and then added to our AOPA Live® YouTube channel for pilots who won’t be going to Sun ‘n Fun to watch. Members who will be attending Sun ‘n Fun can receive $5 off a daily admission or $30 off weekly admission by entering the code AOPA701 while purchasing the tickets.
