Question

I am planning to buy a 1946 Piper Cub. The maintenance logs from 1946 to 1949 are missing, but the finance company requires complete original logs for the loan. Can this issue be resolved?
Answer
Aircraft logbooks are commonly the only record of maintenance for an aircraft. There is no backup copy sent to the FAA, so there is no way to reconstruct every item that should have been logged in those four years. (It is a good idea to keep a copy of your aircraft maintenance records and your pilot logbook.) Read the full answer and join the discussion >
