The European “ultralight” is among a small group of fast, efficient, modern designs that are ready to be sold in the United States as finished, factory-built airplanes once the FAA’s Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC) rules are adopted.

A tandem, two-seater with retractable landing gear, a variable-pitch propeller, and a top speed of about 200 KTAS, the Tarragon doesn’t fit current U.S. light sport aircraft regulations. But MOSAIC is likely to change that.

U.S. pilots will find the Tarragon delivers impressive performance with a turbocharged Rotax engine that maintains full rated power all the way up to 15,000 feet. Inside, the Tarragon has semi-reclined seats reminiscent of high-performance gliders, a bubble canopy that provides excellent visibility in flight, and Garmin digital avionics.

Flying the Tarragon is a delight because of its responsive controls, outstanding visibility, and physical comfort.
