Flying to an event

With wings, you can go anywhere

If you live next to a big city like New York, Washington, D.C., or Los Angeles you might not have to travel very far for concerts or conventions, but if where you live is more rural, your favorite musical artist might pass you by.

With your pilot certificate, impress everyone by going anyway. With wings, nothing’s stopping you from attending any show, game, fly-in, or convention (except maybe the weather).

Choose an airport near the venue using AOPA’s airport directory, then meet up with friends or Uber to the show and have a great time.

There are things to consider, though. Hold off on the drinking. The FAA’s limit of blood alcohol concentration is 0.04 and at least eight hours, and alcohol impairment isn’t something to mess with, so avoid it entirely. And if the event will go late into the night, consider staying put, and leaving refreshed in the morning instead. You won’t save any time by staying the night, but it’ll still be cooler than driving and less tiring too.

The most important things are to stay safe and have fun.
