Lightspeed Aviation develops custom ANR profile for Rotax engines

As Rotax engines proliferate in new aircraft offerings, Lightspeed Aviation cleverly has developed a Rotax-specific audio and active noise reduction profile for its Delta Zulu headset.

The audio profile counters the Rotax engine’s unique sound signature to create a quieter environment in the aircraft. Pilots are able to toggle between the Rotax profile and Lightspeed’s default active noise reduction profile using the equalizer menu in the companion Lightspeed app.

Through a partnership with BRP-Rotax, customers of new Rotax 912 iS/iSc, 915 iS/iSc, and 916 iS aircraft engines who purchase a Rotax Care extended warranty will receive a Lightspeed Delta Zulu headset with the new Rotax audio profile pre-installed.

All owners of Delta Zulu headsets who use the Lightspeed app will be able to download the Rotax audio profile for free in the fall.

“The app continues to be free, this update continues to be free, there is no added cost to access this,” said Lightspeed Aviation Senior Director of Marketing Eric Landry. “You know, it’s on brand with what Lightspeed does. It’s always treating the customer with respect and listening to what they want and need. It’s keeping our current customers happy and satisfied without any additional upcharges.”
