Your pup deserves earmuffs

At high power, a standard Cessna 172 can easily exceed 100 decibels within the cockpit. Sustained noise that is more than 85 decibels can cause permanent damage to a dog’s inner ears, so why would you take your canine companion in an airplane without hearing protection?

4Paws aviation dog earmuffs have become a popular item on Sporty’s Pilot Shop, coming in at a price point of $75 to $85 depending on the size you need. The earmuffs are decked out with premium aircraft-grade sound reduction foam and gel ear cups to ensure your dog is not only safe, but comfortable. Additionally, the product is constructed with durable webbing attachment points and a breakaway chinstrap, allowing you peace of mind while you fly.

Sporty’s customers have also stated that the earmuffs work well for multiple different types of dog ears, ranging from the large and upright ears of a German shepherd to the small and floppy ears of a Cavalier King Charles spaniel.

The product comes in three sizes: small, medium, and large. 4Paws provides specific measurements for sizing reference points, and the earmuffs’ straps are highly adjustable. As an example, my 60-pound American pit bull terrier mix has a 14-inch head circumference and massive ears, and I found that a medium is his best fit.

Customers have also stated that they found the earmuffs helpful for activities outside of aviation, with outdoor concerts, car shows, and fireworks becoming more enjoyable for their pet.
