Volunteer in the classroom with AOPA
AOPA invites members to share their love of aviation with high school students across the country, and we need you.
You don’t need an airplane to be a volunteer. Just be willing to share your knowledge and your story with students at a high school near you. Whether you’re a seasoned pilot, a passionate volunteer, or just getting started in aviation, you can help inspire and engage the next generation of aviators. You can be the key to their success.
- Give as little as 45 minutes during the school year.
- Participate in a virtual training session.
- Complete local school requirements (such as a background check).
- Visit a classroom or host students at a local airport at least once during the school year.
- Share your passion for aviation and answer questions.
- Provide feedback to help us shape the future of the program.
- Most important, have fun inspiring young minds.
Participants will have early access to volunteer opportunities as the program grows. We will provide a list of participating schools in your area; training and resources to make your visit easy and engaging; a presentation toolkit with talking points, activity ideas, and tips; and ongoing support from the AOPA team. In addition, we will recognize you as a founding mentor in the program, offer AOPA-branded merchandise as a thank-you gift, and solicit your voice in shaping this exciting new program.
