Screen-Free Activities

This week is Screen-Free Week! Most of us probably stare at a screen for too long, whether we want to admit it. Screen-Free Week starts with turning off our devices.

It doesn't need to be for the entire week straight - only reduce your screen time! Think of this week as a challenge - it’ll make you uncomfortable, but it is very beneficial! I made a list of activity ideas to replace your screen time this week.

Before we explore screen-free activities, I want to explain why this challenge is worth it. Going screen-free can benefit you in different ways. First off, you will reduce your blue light exposure. Blue light can strain your eyes and negatively affect your sleep. It can also cause neck and shoulder pain when you spend a long time sitting in the same position. It’s time to give your body a break!

Technology can isolate people from one another. Going screen-free will allow you to connect with others on a deeper level. Lastly, this challenge will help you rediscover the fun of life without technology.

Here are ten screen-free activity ideas:

  1. Read a book
  2. Spring clean
  3. Exercise
  4. Play board games
  5. Enjoy the outdoors
  6. Discover a new park or location
  7. Listen to music or a podcast
  8. Cook a new recipe
  9. Try a new hobby
  10. Go to an event.

This challenge is a unique opportunity to change your routine, add excitement, and remind yourself that you don’t need technology to have fun. Who knows, maybe you’ll pick up a new hobby or form a new screen-free habit!
