Colorado flying club orders fleet of all-electric airplanes
Aspen Flying Club has ordered 30 all-electric Sun Flyer 2 airplanes from Bye Aerospace. The battery-powered two-seat Sun Flyer’s solar cells are said to extend its flight endurance to three hours on a single charge. Aspen Flying Club, based at Centennial Airport, south of Denver, currently operates a rental fleet of 40 aircraft and is part of the American Flight Schools family. READ MORE ›

AOPA seeks project manager for high school initiative

Redbird rolls out Alpha, STEM lab
Redbird Flight Simulations displayed a small-scale version of a manually operated full-motion simulator during EAA AirVenture that the company hopes will lower the cost of flight training. FAA seeks wake turbulence encounter reports
The FAA and AOPA are asking general aviation pilots who experience a wake turbulence encounter to report it through the Aviation Safety Reporting System. The agency seeks to monitor safety risks as the air traffic system evolves and new large-aircraft designs incorporating longer wingspans and composite materials change their wake-turbulence-generating profiles.
