Van’s Aircraft to start producing RV-12
Van’s Aircraft is set to begin manufacturing RV-12s in 2018 in its headquarters in Aurora, Oregon, the company announced. The factory-built special light sport aircraft will use fuel-injected Rotax 912 iS and iST engines instead of earlier carbureted models. Van’s employees will build new airplanes—not Synergy Air of Eugene, Oregon, a separate company that previously assembled SLSA RV-12s from kits that Van’s supplied. READ MORE ›
Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet on Las Vegas flight line
Aspiring Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet pilots can learn the ropes during dual flight lessons at All in Aviation, a Las Vegas-based fixed-base operator. The company will make flight packages available beginning at $1,500 per hour for those seeking “high-end adventure.” The training is hoped to appeal to some of the 600 potential owners on a waiting list for the single-engine V-tail jet. Chicago’s Tuskegee Next gains momentum
Graduates of the Tuskegee Next summer flight program celebrated earning nearly a dozen private pilot certificates at Chicago’s Illinois Aviation Academy. The program, in its fourth year, hopes to graduate 100 pilots by 2025. READ MORE ›
University of Memphis to launch commercial aviation degree
The University of Memphis and Crew Training International are partnering to provide a offer a bachelor of science in commercial aviation program beginning in the fall. CTI, based at Millington Regional Jetport (NQA), in Millington, Tennessee, will administer the program. An estimated five to 30 students will participate annually, according to the Memphis Daily News.
